‘ANINI — A Washington state man died after being pulled from the water off ‘Anini Beach Park in the North Shore on Friday afternoon.
David Kositsky, 70, was identified as the victim by the Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD).
“On Friday, May 24, at approximately 12 p.m., first responders were dispatched to ‘Anini Beach Park for a swimmer in distress. According to a preliminary report, Kositsky had been snorkeling when friends were unable to locate him and notified a lifeguard,” the KPD said.
“A lifeguard with the Ocean Safety Bureau located and brought the unresponsive victim to shore. CPR was administered until medics arrived and took over advanced resuscitation efforts. The victim was transported to the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (in Kapa‘a), where he was pronounced dead.”
An autopsy is currently pending for Kositsky to determine the exact cause of his death. However, no foul play is suspected in his death.
