Happy Memorial Day!
No, the Pau Hana Market is on, and the Kukui Grove is working its regular schedule. Laurie Ho said the West Kaua‘i Episcopal Church with the Valdez Farm (they’re known for their westside tomatoes) is coming to the market as a fundraiser for the churches’ projects.
Kudos to Carol Yotsuda, Shannon Hiramoto and Kat Ho on getting the Boroboro Boutique (they’re not going to be at the Grove Farm Market craft component because Shannon is going to the Pride Parade) off the ground as a fundraiser for Kat Ho’s mosaic project, which will eventually grace one of the retaining walls at the Kilauea Lighthouse.
This is the last day of the Sew-a-Thon, and Shannon said there’s still room in the workshop that’s going to be led by award-winning artist Bon Moore .
Former mayor JoAnn Yukimura scored when Carol Yotsuda did caricatures of JoAnn’s clan of mo‘opuna, and Kat Ho had a scale version of the long mosaic mural (they have a Talk Story with the Artist, too), and even started cracking pieces for the mosaic.
Kudos, Judge Micah Smith (he was a special guest at the Kaua‘i High School graduation with Kaua‘i Superintendent Danny Hamada, Jean Morris, Layla Kobayashi, Corey Nakamura and Jason Yoshida) for stopping by the Ask-A-Lawyer tent with the Young Lawyers Division of the Hawai‘i BAR Association before joining the line for Sugarloaf pineapples at Grove Farm Market. That is where the Master Gardeners will have a demonstration with Basilio “Coach Bunga” Fuertes (Roy Nishida said he came by the Wailua Meat Market for some goodies) on Saturday with the Grove Farm Market craft fair component … hope the Pride Parade doesn’t take that long so we can visit the market.
