MOLOA‘A — A motorist suffered serious injuries after he was ejected from a vehicle in a crash on Kuhio Highway on Tuesday night.
MOLOA‘A — A motorist suffered serious injuries after he was ejected from a vehicle in a crash on Kuhio Highway on Tuesday night.
Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD) and American Medical Response (AMR) personnel responded to the Moloa‘a area on the North Shore after receiving a report of a crash.
A 21-year-old Kilauea resident was traveling northbound on Kuhio Highway in a Nissan truck at approximately 9:15 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the roadway and struck the embankment. The man, whose name was not released, was ejected from the truck.
KPD personnel immediately closed Kuhio Highway in both directions. The motorist was airlifted to the Queens Medical Center on O‘ahu, where he remains in serious condition.
Kuhio Highway was closed for a total of three hours, while KPD’s Traffic Safety Section conducted an on-scene investigation. Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.
