KOKE‘E — A 43-year-old West Virginia visitor was rescued from Kukui Trail after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday.
KOKE‘E — A 43-year-old West Virginia visitor was rescued from Kukui Trail after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday.
Kauai Fire Department (KFD) rescue crew with the Waimea Fire Station responded to the emergency call about an injured hiker on the trail at around 12:20 p.m.
Rescue 3 and Air 1 were dispatched shortly thereafter to Kukui Trail where they made contact with the visitor, who was apparently injured in a fall.
The West Virginia resident was safely packaged, and then transported to a landing zone near the trailhead of Kukui Trail to awaiting medics with American Medical Response (AMR).
AMR personnel continued treatment on the injured hiker before transporting her to the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea.
The scene was cleared at approximately 1:35 p.m.
