Walter ‘Freckles’ James Smith Jr.
Walter “Freckles” James Smith Jr. of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, passed away on April 19, 2024, at his home at the age of 89. Walter was born in Hawai‘i on Nov. 22, 1934. He was the President for Smiths Motor Boat Service Inc.
He was preceded in death by parents Walter and Emily Smith Sr., son Kahanu Smith, sisters Charlotte Kaui, Pelma Larsen, Grace Apana and brother Malcom Smith.
Walter is survived by his wife Mokihana Smith, sons Kamika Smith, Kaleo (Stacie) Smith, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Smith’s Tropical Paradise on the Wailua River on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with services to follow.

Soon Ne Apilado
Soon Ne Apilado of Kekaha passed away on April 1, 2024, in Waimea at the age of 101. She was born on Feb. 1, 1923, in Puhi, Kaua‘i. She was a Laboratory Technician.
She is preceded in death by her husband Faustino Apilado, sons Patrick Apilado, Abraham Apilado, daughter Judy Manuel, grandchildren Paul Apilado, Paddy Boy Apilado, Joanna Apilado, Walter Laker.
Soon Ne is survived by her daughters Marilyn Laker of Arizona, Suzanne Novak (Tom) of Arizona, 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kekaha Enterprise Center located at 7694 Ulili Rd., Kekaha, Kaua‘i.

Robert Icem Allen Jr.
Robert Icem Allen Jr. passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Wainiha, Kaua‘i, at the age of 80 years old. He was born on Feb. 25, 1944, in San Luis Obispo, California.
He was a self-proprietor as a surf board shaper and boat builder.
Robert is preceded in death by his sister Ramona Allen.
He is survived by hanai-daughter Nicole “Sunshine” Namordi of Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i and sister Alice Loudermilk. Also surviving are numerous Unkos, NT’s, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside burial services will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, to start at 4:30 p.m., at the Hanalei Community Cemetery. The family suggest that Aloha Attire be worn and flowers are welcome.
Date for a gathering and paddle out with flowers in Hanalei Bay will be announced at a later date.

Kimiko O. Osaki
Kimiko O. Osaki of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, passed away on May 7, 2024, in Lihu‘e at the age of 95. She was born on April 8, 1929. She was a Library Clerk.
She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Osaki, parents Jutaro and Masu Ota.
Kimiko is survived by her son Jason Osaki (Kimberly) of Lakewood, Colorado, one grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service was held.
