LIHU‘E — A forecast of wet weather could upend a number of road-related projects in the week ahead, but if the rain holds off work is scheduled to take place in some heavily traveled locations on Kaua‘i, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending May 17.
Hanapepe
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for shoulder grading, between Hanapepe Road and Kaumakani Avenue, on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kalaheo
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for paving work, between mile post 10.73 and 11.06, in the vicinity of Kuli Road and Lauoho Road through Friday, May 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic be alternated through the open lane. Expect delays.
Kalihiwai
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for highway reconstruction, between Kahiliholo Road and Ka Haku Road, on Sunday, May 12, through Friday, May 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kaumakani
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for construction of fire breaks, between mile post 18.5 and 21, on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kealia
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for cold planing and paving, between, Mailihuma Road and Aliomanu Road through Friday, May 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Koke‘e
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for widening and paving, between mile post 11.5 and 14, on Sunday, May 12, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Lihu‘e
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is in either direction for striping and sign installation, between Kuene Street and Kapule Highway, Monday, May 13, through Friday May, 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Moloa‘a
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 17.5 and 20.5, on Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for debris removal and hauling of slope material, between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, from Monday, May 13,through Friday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Traffic will be alternated through the open lane.
Puhi
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for striping, between mile post 2.14 and 2.74, in the vicinity of Kauai Nursery, through Friday, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Wailua
A right lane closure on Kapa‘a Bypass Road (Route 5600) is in either direction for grass cutting and shoulder grading, between mile post 1 to 2.3, on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) is possible until further notice for slope stabilization and waterline installation, in the vicinity of the Opaeka‘a Falls lookout, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Two-way traffic is controlled by flaggers or temporary traffic signals.
A left lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) on the Wailua Mauka Bridge is possible in the southbound direction for bridge repair work, on Monday, May 13, through Wednesday, May 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. One lane will remain open southbound on the Mauka Bridge. Please proceed with caution.
Koloa Town is in great need for basic road widening and repair… it is a serious accident waiting to occur!!!!!
