Talk about late breaking news, Leona Sa, a coach with the Kaua‘i Special Olympics said the First Hawaiian Bank Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Run is taking place on Saturday starting at 7:15 a.m. with “2024 Leg Leader” Kaua‘i Police Department officer Johnathan Anderson, KPD, other law enforcement officers and Special Olympic athletes, friends and supporters. The Troy Barboza Torch Run carries the Flame of Hope into the Vidinha Stadium and opens the Special Olympics track and field games, which is strongly supported by the employee group at Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa. Leona said this is a good opportunity to meet the Kaua‘i Special Olympics coordinator Lisa Aki, who is expected to be at both events.

Congratulations to Renae Hamilton-Cambeilh and the YWCA of Kaua‘i (kudos to MJ Akuna, Abigail Naaykens and Maili Ornellas for trying to balance all the other programs like Denim Day, Child Abuse Prevention, and more — what? They have Victims Rights Day on O‘ahu?)! on the launch of The Wiwo‘ole Program for survivors and those who are trying to break the cycle of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Mark Tanaka of Kaua‘i Realty said the program is “badly needed.” Watch what happens when the Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation, Kaua‘i Region blesses its Lihu‘e Clinic that’s been delayed from its original opening.
OK, it’s off to the Kapa‘a Hawaiian Church because someone is having a special birthday.
