Warriors get seventh win in girls softball

LIHU‘E — Kapa‘a High School softball pitcher Sienna Yamashita got the nod for winning the 12-7 Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation softball game against Kaua‘i High School on Wednesday night at Isenberg Park, the designated home field for the Red Raiders.

Pitching through four frames, Yamashita gave up one hit and two runs, one earned, while walking five Raider batters and striking out three Raiders.

With the Raiders holding two runs, Karlee-Rose Keale took over mound chores to help the win, as a misty rain blanketed the diamond and forced a rain delay. Keale closed in three frames giving up five hits and allowed five runs, just two being earned. She also walked a batter and struck out two.

Jordan Ellamar went the distance — first time this season that Kaua‘i went the full seven innings against Kapa‘a — giving up 12 runs, 11 being earned, on 11 Kapa‘a hits. She also walked five and struck out six Warriors.

Ashlynn Souza and Nahe Marshall topped the Kapa‘a hitting with a home run each. Souza finished with three hits on the night with four runners batted in. Marshall scored twice in her two hits with two RBIs.

Dallas Batoon, J. Orial and K. Pereira had the hot bats for Kaua‘i, each batter nailing two-baggers as Kaua‘i stayed alive by scoring two runs apiece in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

J. Orial marked three RBIs in her sole hit and K. Pereira scored once and had an RBI in her sole hit. Mia Marty scored twice and marked two RBIs in her sole hit.

The Warriors next meet Waimea High School on a Saturday doubleheader at the Kapa‘a High School softball field. The first pitch goes at 10 a.m.
