Presented by The Bridge: Kaua‘i to College, Celebrating the 70s is scheduled to unfold on April 20 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Koloa Landing Resort with an evening that features an early VIP reception, dinner, a live auction, world class music and an opportunity to meet some of the Bridge Scholars.
Celebrating the 70s is also a fundraising event for The Bridge, which provides Kaua‘i youths the tools, guidance and support to successfully prepare and gain acceptance to college.
Some of the personalities appearing in the gala include Patty Pearson, who is described as “her distinctive style and passionate singing endear her to fans across the country.” Pearson is a dynamic jazz and R&B vocalist, who has received the Minnesota Music Award seven times for best vocalist, as well as best jazz recording. Pearson was inducted into the Mid America Hall of Fame in 2010.
Michael Ruff’s ensemble of dedicated and talented musicians will provide the perfect notes to compliment Pearson’s vocals.
Ruff is a Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter, BMI Award winner, multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner and nominee.
The Koloa Landing culinary team is customizing an iconic 70s menu that is reminiscent of foodie pioneers James Beard, Julia Child and Graham Kerr. Additionally, based on availability, Koloa Landing Resort is offering gala attendees a 20 percent discount rate.
Celebrating the 70s is sponsored by the Blue Orchid Floral Designs, the Christine and Patrick Donovan Family Fund, Edward Jones, Holo Holo Charters, Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative, Raytheon Technologies Corp. and The West Inn.
