Mahalo, Garden Island Orchid Society on getting the long-awaited Spring Orchid Show and Sale off the ground following overnight rainfall that messed up traffic (Ron Wiley said it was “very slow going” in the area around Wailua Bridge) on the eastside!

Mahalo, too, to the Hanapepe Economic Alliance for braving the threat of more rain to get its weekly Friday Night Art blooming so all those visitors had a place to go (Grove Farm Market was pumping … especially the opening of Da Wicked Brew coffee trailer!) after everything shut down because of the rain!
Mahalo to Fely and Neill Sams for braving that traffic slowdown (how many more minutes did you have to add for the trip to Hanapepe?) and mahalo to Mary Lardizabal and all those students from the Kapa‘a Middle School Choir and ‘Ukulele Band, who crossed the bridge to participate in not one, but two Lihu‘e events on Saturday (wasn’t that lightning flashing at the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market?).
Kudos to Alanna Bauman and all her Keiki to Career (Alice Luck was busy manning the kiosk!) on getting the Kaua‘i Parent and Child Fair (Edie Ignacio Neumiller said it was a “fair”) going at Kukui Grove Center, where Fred and Nixon Villa got to meet up with their friend Alec Rupp-Smith of Aloha Pearls, who had a pop-up going across Lilo’s (did you see that rock star ‘ukulele performance with Moana?) dressing room that was near the Kaua‘i Megaformers’ plank fundraiser (MJ Akuna of the YWCA of Kaua‘i was lamenting not being dressed for planking) for the YWCA of Kaua‘i.
