KOKE‘E — A 60-year-old female visitor from Wisconsin was injured when she apparently had a misstep while hiking near the Waipo‘o Falls Trail on Monday.
KOKE‘E — A 60-year-old female visitor from Wisconsin was injured when she apparently had a misstep while hiking near the Waipo‘o Falls Trail on Monday.
The Kauai Fire Department (KFD) said the incident happened at approximately 11:55 a.m.
“When first responders arrived on scene, they discovered the hiker who (suffered) an apparent ankle injury while hiking on the trail. After assessing the patient, Rescue 3 personnel short-hauled her on Air 1 and brought her to a landing zone at the NASA Tower in Koke‘e,” the KFD said.
“Crews with American Medical Response continued treatment of the hiker before transporting her to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (in Waimea).”
KFD personnel with the Waimea Fire Station also responded to the incident. The scene was cleared shortly after 1:30 p.m.
