William Samuel Mayo
July 16, 1972 — Dec. 20, 2023
William Samuel Mayo, 51, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023. William was born July 16, 1972, in Houston, Texas, to Jeffery and Debra (Doreck) Mayo.
Many knew William as Sam, Sammy, and Uncle Sam. Sam was taken from his family and loved ones, way too soon. We must trust in the Lord to guide us from this day forward to help us pick up the pieces of our broken hearts. We can find comfort in knowing that Sam is not suffering, he is not in any pain, and he is in a beautiful place. We love Sam beyond words and cannot imagine this life without him.
Sam spent his last two years living in Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, a beautiful, and peaceful place. He lived in paradise with the beach only a 3-minute walk from his place. Many who knew Sam knew that Hawai‘i was always a special place for him. Sam was a great father to Kira Ivy Pennington (Mayo) and Shelby Joy Mayo. Sam had an old soul and a heart of gold. He was the most giving person to anyone he called a friend. There was not a holiday or Christmas that he came empty-handed, whether it was a candy bar for the kids or mailing Hawaiian shirts. We will always remember Sam’s cooking, as he enjoyed spending time in the kitchen creating new recipes. Sam had a smile that would light up a room. He took pride in always matching every outfit from his hat to his shoes. You knew Sam walked into the room by the cloud of cologne you would smell.
Please hug your children and tell them daily you love them. Tomorrow is not promised, we must take each day as a gift. (Proverbs 27:1). Sam is survived by his parents Jeffery and Debra Mayo, daughters Kira Ivy Pennington, Shelby Joy Mayo, siblings Jacob Mayo, Lyndsey Mayo, grandchildren Tucker Pennington, Bronx Pennington, nieces and nephews,Katelyn Mayo, Jeffery Mayo, Jeremiah Mayo, Lillian Mayo, Victor Villareal, Luna Villareal, along with a host of other family members and many friends.
We will hold Sam close to our hearts and never forget the memories we hold dearly until we meet again.
