PO‘IPU — Taylor Langtad captured All Around Cowgirl honors by a point over Kim Medeiros, who was named Reserve All Around Cowgirl during the opening rodeo celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Kaua‘i All Girl Rodeo Association (KAGRA) on March 17 at CJM Country Stables.
During the opening Grand Entry, Langtad was charged with carrying the Hawaiian flag during the playing of the state’s Hawai‘i Pono‘i.
Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami had his turn atop a horse, as he delivered a congratulatory message and helped the KAGRA leadership team with presenting 446 pounds of food to Kelvin Moniz, the executive director of the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank.
Christy Castillo, the KAGRA secretary, said KAGRA is not done with the food drive. KAGRA will be collecting food donations until the April 21 rodeo to benefit the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank.

Langtad, in the competitive arena, piled up honors like the first place in Barrels, Pole Bending and two placements as the header during the Dally Team Roping event.
