Michael Miyuki Cardinez
Michael Miyuki Cardinez, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away at his residence on Feb. 28, 2024, at the age of 74. He was born on Aug. 13, 1949, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He was a retired radar tech at Makaha Ridge.
He was preceded in death by father Steven Cardinez, mother Evelyn Estrada, brother Ronnie Cardinez and sister Lydia Castillo.
He is survived by brothers Clarence (Carmen) Cardinez, Manolo (Ces) Delos Reyes, James (Anglea) Delos Reyes, Steven (Karen) Cardinez, Alex (Shari) Cardinez, sisters Frances Bunao, Carol (Burt) Gonsalves, Alicia Estrada, Celia Marie Mancia, Nelda Banquel, daughters Kalei (Alden) Cardinez, Kananiokala (Harvey) Makekau, sons Mikey (Carolyn) Cardinez, Tyrus (Andrea) Cardinez, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Birgit R. Soma
Birgit R. Soma, of Kapa‘a, passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born in Dortmund-Hombruch, Germany, on July 7, 1940. She was a proprietor.
She was preceded in death by parents Kurt and Katharina Meier and husband Wayne Soma.
She is survived by sons Mark (Cynthia) Soma, Dirk (Jennifer) Soma, daughter Chante Soma, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held.
