KALAHEO — The National Tropical Botanical Garden offers the NTBG Florlegium Art Show 2024 on each Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NTBG Botanical Research Center located at 3530 Papalina Road in Kalaheo.
The exhibit starts on March 14 and runs each Thursday through April 4.
The exhibition includes original botanical art created by a group of international artists, including several Kaua‘i residents, who come to the Kaua‘i National Tropical Botanical Garden each year to paint and draw plants found at the garden.
The NTBG Florilegium Society includes a group of botanical garden illustrators and artists assembled by instructor Wendy Hollender, of Draw Botanical, with its website at www.drawbotanical.com.
A florilegium, latin for “gathering flowers,” is a collection of illustrations that vibrantly document plants from a particular region or botanic garden.
This year’s field of participating artists led by Hollender, includes Amanda Ahmed, Esther Carpi, Daisy Chung, Rosemary Donnelly, Akiko Enokido, Kathryn Hunt Giovazzo, Jane Goldsmith, Asuka Hishiki, Joan Luzney, Sam McWilliams, Doug Milne, Harriet O’Donnell, John Pastoriza-Pinol and Catherine Watters.
