Randy O’Connor
Randy O’Connor, 63, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Feb. 22, 2024, in Seattle, Washington. He was born on Feb. 12, 1961, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He worked in the hospitality industry.
He was preceded in death by mother Glenda Sue O’Connor.
He is survived by wife Mercy O’Connor, daughter Malia O’Connor, son Austin O’Connor and brother Bryan Henderson.
A celebration of life is Sunday, March 17, at the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by service at 4 p.m. The family requests aloha attire.
Betty June Bell
Betty June Bell passed away on Feb. 18, 2024, in Lihu‘e at the age of 96. She was born on May 22, 1927, in Indiana. She was a licensed Pharmacist who graduated from Purdue University, a Hospital Administrator for Wilcox Hospital, a Real Estate Broker, and the owner of PSS Realty.
Betty was an example of love, kindness, and generosity for all who knew her. She was always a strong advocate for women, and prior to her death, she established the Betty Bell Kaua‘i Women’s Scholarship Fund through the Hawai‘i Community Foundation.
She was preceded in death by parents Herman and Hazel Bell.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Lihu‘e United Church in Lihu‘e. Services will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a social gathering at the Parish Hall at noon.
Betty requested that her friends make a donation to The Betty Bell Kaua‘i Woman’s Scholarship Fund, the Lihu‘e United Church, or Hospice in lieu of flowers.

Benjamin Ganotisi Ramos
Benjamin Ganotisi Ramos, of Lihu‘e, passed away on O‘ahu on Feb.18, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on March 25, 1946, in the Philippines, and worked for a sugarcane mill.
He was preceded in passing by parents Faustino and Patricia Ramos, brother Urbano Ramos and nephew Freeman Rontayo N. Ramos.
Benajmin is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Elsie A. Ramos, children Leah (Cory) Ramos-Custer, Frenchen Ramos, Jassidy (Diana) Ramos, siblings Pascuala G. Ramos, Angelita (Aurelio) Ganitano, Felimon (Toribia) Ramos, Marina (Remie) Eugenio, Federico (Pacita) Ramos, Julie (Rudy) Barroga, Fredie (Julie) Ramos, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Rochelle K. Barretto
Rochelle K. Barretto, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Feb. 23, 2024, at the age of 52. She was born on Nov. 16, 1971, in Lihu‘e. She worked as an Archeologist on Maui.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Joseph F. and Lorinda Barretto and maternal grandfather Bernardino Balmidiano.
She is survived by parents Robert and Norma Balmidiano Barretto, brothers Garrick Barretto of Texas, Brandon Barretto of California, maternal grandmother Remy Balmidiano, hanai sister Diane Guerriero of Maui, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service was held.

Violet M. Moura
Violet M. Moura, 90, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away on March 2, 2024. She was born in ‘Ele‘ele on June 13, 1933, and was a nurse at ‘Ele‘ele Dispensary.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Wallace F. Moura, her parents William and Mary Reis, sisters Alfreda, Mabel, brothers Adam, Harry and Alfred.
She is survived by daughter Joan Moura, sons Gary and Robert, brother Thomas Reis, sisters-in-law Janet Reis (Adam), Frances Frietas (Joe), Dorothy Moura (Albert), six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, niece Shirley Laguatan, nephew John Medeiros, among numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her celebration of life is Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 10 a.m., and service at 10:45 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Ofelia ‘Punay’ Resinto
Ofelia “Punay” Resinto, 81, of Koloa, passed away peacefully at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 31, 2024. She was born on Nov. 16, 1942, in the Philippines. She retired from the County of Kaua‘i and The Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by husband Conrado Resinto and daughter Zenaida R. Dizol.
She is survived by children Josie Resinto (Paul Wingler), Eddie (Shan) Resinto, Lolita (Boyet) Galo, Maria Anderson, Paris (Char) Resinto, Reza (Rodel) Minia, Carol (Gregory) Efhan, Mary Ann Resinto, Kevin (Kris) Resinto, Kekua Resinto, 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Koloa Neighborhood Center. Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with service at noon and lunch to follow.

Lou Jyoji Nishida Sr.
Lou Jyoji Nishida Sr. passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at his residence, at the age of 87 years old. He was born on Oct. 17, 1936, in Lihu‘e. He was a retired Ag Research Technician 4 at the UH Research Center in Wailua.
He was preceded in death by wife Mildred Wada Nishida, parents George T. Nishida and Ayame Y. Nishida and granddaughter Makanalani Lucyana Nishida.
His is survived by son Lou (Marci) Nishida Jr. of Wailua, daughter Millicent Agena of Wailua, grandchildren Marissa Agena, Mindi (Holbron) Agena-Renken, Marlou Nishida, great-grandchildren Mehanaokala and Ha‘aheo Agena-Renken, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Family and Friends are welcome to visit from noon to 2 p.m. at the Nishida/Agena residence at 1070 Puuopae Rd. in Wailua. Lunch will be served.

Lorraine C. Savaria
Lorraine C. Savaria, of Kekaha, passed away on Feb. 7, 2024, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. She was born on April 27, 1941, in Rhode Island. She was a retired registered nurse.
She was survived by son Michael (Marcia) Buratti of Kapa‘a, daughter Christine Zydervelt of Kekaha, grandchildren Kalani Buratti, Rachel (Austin) Maltby, Emma (Zion) Basque, brothers Raymond Savaria, Donald Savaria, both of Rhode Island, sisters Pauline Marchand of Massachusetts, Marie Savaria of Rhode Island, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m.
The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Stephen ‘Steve’ Patrick Ruiz
Stephen “Steve” Patrick Ruiz, of Kalaheo, passed away on Feb. 24, 2024, at the age of 55. He was born in Livermore, California. He was a branch manager for Odem Corporation, previously known as Anheuser-Busch and served in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by wife Karen Ruiz, sons Bradley Ruiz, Ryan Ruiz, Noah Ruiz, daughter Marissa (Christopher) Honorato, parents Stephen and Yvonne Ruiz, brothers Keith (Marlene) Ruiz, John (Chelsea) Ruiz, David (Hazel) Ruiz, sister Melissa Bukoski, two grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Koloa. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. A private burial will be held.
