Scott Sato was busy with the Team Sam Jacinto golf tournament, and still on his feet with the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative team Saturday night at the Big Brothers Big Sisters annual bowling (fun)draiser where Chef Alan Okuhara said Chef Mark Oyama (he was off-island along with Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami) and Contemporary Flavors Catering has been providing food since the event started 14 years ago … DeeJay Marv de Vera said he’s been spinning since 2008, but could still find the watermelon tune that earned the Gather Federal Credit Union (they all came in from the pasture) team the Best Team Spirit award … did you see who was in the cow costume?

Ferdinand Dosono and the Kaua‘i Kim Chee ‘ohana recovered from the Waimea Town Celebration (he was cooking at someone’s home next to the park!) to show up at the Grove Farm Market (no rain, no rainbows!) on Saturday where the master gardeners were talking about expanding their operation to multiple tents (any agricultural specialists want to donate some time).
Helena Camat of Gourmet Pretzels (Is she going to be at the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market with Lickety Louie this Saturday — it’s the second Saturday of the month?) had some of her son’s (remember when she started selling pretzels at a Wilcox School craft fair nearly 20 years ago as a fundraiser for her son’s soccer team?) new freeze-dried Skittles that Carol Pratt picked up because David Pratt would love them.
And, if you waited too long, Mayette Loseto’s supply of durian was wiped out.
OK, time to check on watercress at Pau Hana Market at Kukui Grove Center.
