LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i High School boys wrestling team dominated the field of wrestlers with 22 pointing grapplers during the Central Pacific Bank Kaua‘i Interscholastic wrestling championships on Feb. 10 at Kaua‘i High School gymnasium.
Kaua‘i High School finished the tournament with 144.5 points to take the team title, followed by Waimea with 78 points. Kapa‘a, with just Orien Hodges in the 132 Pound class making the winner’s circle, tallied 54 points.
In the girls’ circle, Waimea’s Skyelynn Ripley led the Menehune charge with 14 points, followed by teammate Raia Agor with 12 points as Waimea clinched the girls team total with 46 points. Kaua‘i finished with 40.5 points with Lea Ramos pointing 16.5 to lead the team.
Kapa‘a was close behind, finishing with 38 points. Nahe Marshall, Casey Bernabe and Avah McRoberts earned 10 points for their respective solo wins.
Each of the weight bracket winners earns eligibility to participate in the 2024 Texaco Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association wrestling championships on Feb. 23-24 at Cannon Activities Center on the Brigham Young University Laie, O‘ahu campus.
