Saturday is the Tour de Po‘ipu that rolls at 8 a.m. from the Po‘ipu Beach Park (the Spouting Horn side of the parking lot). Tommy said Kaua‘i Path Vice President Andreas Honi will be leading the “easy-paced” 15-mile group bicycle ride around Koloa.
Information and latest updates are available on the Telegram messaging app that people can download to their electronic devices.
Raquel and Edoardo Segato-Figueroa of Bike Kaua‘i will be organizing weekly “intermediate (15 to 35 miles)” group rides until May … now you can see why you need the Telegram app.
In the meantime, Raquel and Edoardo are coordinating a free tour of Ke Ala Hele Makala‘e (another name for the Kapa‘a multi-use path) that ends with an optional no-host brunch at Collab Cafe on Feb. 25 (yep, it’s a Sunday).
Riders meet at the former Foodland Waipouli parking lot at 8 a.m. for the easy ride on the full length of Ke Ala Hele Makala‘e.
And, the potholes? There may be some on the Wailua Country Roads Tour on the March 3 ride being coordinated by Raquel and Edoardo that will take riders around Wailua Homesteads and over to Kahuna Road … tip: be sure to bring a bathing suit for those who want to jump in the river at the Keahua Arboretum.
Riders should be ready to roll out starting at 8 a.m. at the Wailua Homesteads Park (that’s the one with the dog park). The ride is considered intermediate with some interesting hill climbs and descents.
Call Tommy aty 808-639-1018, or email news@KauaiPath.org for more information on any of these rides outside of the Kalena Park departure point.
