HA‘ENA — First responders rescued a 63-year-old Florida woman on the Hanakapi‘ai Trail after an apparent misstep on Saturday afternoon.
HA‘ENA — First responders rescued a 63-year-old Florida woman on the Hanakapi‘ai Trail after an apparent misstep on Saturday afternoon.
The first responders, including Kaua‘i Fire Department (KFD) personnel, were dispatched to a report of a female who suffered injuries from a fall on the trail at approximately 2:20 p.m.
Personnel with the Hanalei fire station, Rescue 3, Air 1, and American Medical Response were dispatched to the incident.
“According to a preliminary report, the first responders found the hiker at approximately 2:50 p.m.,” the KFD said. “The hiker fell 20 feet and sustained head injuries. Upon arrival, first responders loaded the hiker onto Air 1 and transported her to the Princeville Airport to awaiting AMR (American Medical Response) and KFD personnel.”
AMR personnel continued treatment of the injured hiker before transporting her to the Wilcox Medical Center in Lihu‘e.
The scene was cleared at approximately 4 p.m.
