HONOLULU — Island School’s Sawyer Rogoff found the net in the 35th minute to lead the Voyagers to a 1-0 win over Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy on Thursday at the Waipio Soccer Complex during the Motiv8 Foundation Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II boys soccer state championships.
HONOLULU — Island School’s Sawyer Rogoff found the net in the 35th minute to lead the Voyagers to a 1-0 win over Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy on Thursday at the Waipio Soccer Complex during the Motiv8 Foundation Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II boys soccer state championships.
Rogoff’s first-half goal broke a defensive slugfest for the Voyagers, who entered the tournament with Central Pacific Bank Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation championship credentials that earned the Puhi team the No. 3 seed in the state tournament.
With the win, Island School will face the No. 2 seed PAC-5 in the Div. II semifinals on Friday at the Waipio Soccer Complex.
PAC-5 advanced following a 4-0 win over Waipahu on Thursday behind three second-half nets over the Mauraders.
Top seed was assigned to Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation and the No. 4 seed went to Seabury Hall of the Maui Interscholastic League.
During quarterfinal play on Thursday, the top-seeded KSH boys shut down Leilehua, 8-0 to advance, and No. 4 Seabury Hall was a 1-0 winner over No. 5 Castle High School.
