LIHU‘E — A Lihu‘e man was arrested for allegedly assaulting someone on a commercial property on Rice Street last week.
Joshua Thomas, 33, was taken into custody in connection with the assault which happened at approximately 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, the Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD) said. The incident took place in the Ho‘ike Kaua‘i Community Television parking lot.
“According to a preliminary police report, the victim, a 59-year-old man of Lihu‘e, approached Thomas and informed him that he was not allowed on the commercial property,” the KPD said. “According to statements obtained at the scene, an argument ensued between the two, resulting in the victim sustaining mulitple lacerations to his leg.”
The victim, whose name was not released, was treated at the scene by medics for nonlife-threatening injuries, and then taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihu‘e for further treatment. He was later released.
Thomas is facing a charge of assault in the second degree. He is being held on $5,000 bail at KPD cellblock. The incident remains under investigation.
