Vicky’s Fabrics (they’re a major sponsor with Fabric Discount Warehouse of the upcoming Kaua‘i Quilt Show which opens on Feb. 9 at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery at Kukui Grove Center) said they have a lot of people planning on attending the Mu‘umu‘u Pa‘ina luncheon because they have several people participating in the Mu‘umu‘u Design Contest presented by Carol Yotsuda and the Garden Island Arts Council, which has a mu‘umu‘u display (did you see the actual mu‘u created from a Designer Series pattern at Vicky’s?) set up at Lihu‘e Airport.

Shannon Hiramoto (good job with the Mu‘umu‘u Market — Kawaikini School student Hi‘ilei Berg who was a vendor is a design contest participant, — Jamilee Jimenez!) said the response to the design contest has been “unreal” with several of the categories already full and the others close to full. And, what’s with Barbara Green who has entries in all three categories? With so many designers, the fashion show should be most interesting.

Kudos, Darnel Sugioka of Project Vision who has been doing the Point In Time Count (it started Tuesday at The Salvation Army, Lihu‘e Corps relief day). Wayne Doliente (he’s probably going to officiate at the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation boys volleyball games that start in the spring season of sports) was busy filling orders for “medical equipment” on Thursday at the All Saints Episcopal Church relief day since his partner in the medical equipment ministry was on O‘ahu.
Joseph Figaroa was serving up hot to-go plates of spaghetti with the trimmings and said it’s fun volunteering when everyone comes together to provide help.
