Edward J. Cremer
Edward J. Cremer, of Puhi, Kaua‘i, passed away on Dec. 30, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born in Waimea on April 10, 1950. He was a tractor-trailer driver for Kaua‘i Commercial Co. and later worked for Aloha Isle Moving.
He was preceded in death by parents Reinhold and Margaret Cremer, wife Lyvonne Cremer, sisters Loraine Medeiros, Marianne Lizama, Jeanette Tu, brothers Robert Cremer, Reinhold Cremer and Eric Cremer.
He is survived by children Kyle (Mila Alayvilla) Cremer of Lihu‘e, Lynette (George) Cavaco of San Diego, California, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sisters Loretta Johnson, Bernadette Reynolds, Elizabeth Owens, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by services.
Elizabeth Kuualoha Redongo
Elizabeth Kuualoha Redongo, of Koloa, passed away on Jan. 16, 2024, at Hospice Maui Hale, at the age of 80. She was born on April 8, 1943, on O‘ahu. She was previously employed with Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary and Garden Island Mortuary.
She was preceded in death by husband Lawrence “Sonny” Redongo.
She is survived by son John “Otto” (Angie Federici) Redongo, daughters Lori Lee Redongo, Leah Ann Redongo, Laura Ann (Anthony) Kaahanui, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa on Friday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 3, at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Helen Leonani Hanohano
Helen Leonani Hanohano, of Niumalu, Kaua‘i, peacefully joined the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. She was 80 years old and born on May 9, 1943, in Lihue, Hawai‘i. Helen was a Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. She will be remembered as the life of the party, for her contagious laugh, beautiful voice and giving heart.
Helen grew up in Niumalu and enjoyed the simple joys of life. As a young adult she worked at The Pineapple Cannery, Kalena Bar, Hideaway Bar and HAPS Hideaway Bar. She later became a bus driver for the County of Kaua‘i and retired after 29 years.
Helen was preceded in death by her long time companion Walter P. H. Emmsley, parents Lyma P. Hanohano, Mary Magdalene Kaiwi (Kolo) Chow, step-father Kut Chong Chow, sister Ethel (George) Suinn, sister Leona Kay Ferraro, sister Karen (Joseph) Koko, sister Norma McKenzie, brother-in-law Henry Nakao and grandson Chad Kalani Chow.
She is survived by her sons Wesley (Laurie) Chow, Russell (Jill) Chow, Clesson Hanohano, Mansfield Hanohano, Kennison (Jenelle) Hanohano, brother Arthur (Joy) Chow, sister Donna Nakao, brother-in-law Phillip Ferraro, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Helen’s celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Niumalu Canoe Club in Kalapaki, Kaua‘i. Visitation will begin from 9 to 11 a.m., services and lunch will follow.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
