Rossiter Ronald Kamealoha Oana, Sr.
Rossiter Ronald Kamealoha Oana, Sr., of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 4, 2024, in Kalaheo at the age of 84. He was born on Jan. 23, 1939, in Lihu‘e. He was a telephone linesman with Hawaiian Tel Company and a long-time musician with the Punuas.
He was preceded in death by parents Stanley Manaia Oana, Sr., Elizabeth Leialoha Kanoho Oana, wife Marjorie Napua Rodrigues Oana, son Rosswell Raoul Kaleolani Oana, granddaughter Weslyn Jerves, grandson Don Sadomiano, brother Stanley Manaia (Smokey) Oana, Jr., sisters Eleanor Leinaala Carvalho, Flora Ornellas and son-in-law Wesley Jerves.
He is survived by wife Victoria Navarro Oana, sons Rossiter R. K. Oana, Jr. of Oma‘o, Michael Oana of Vancouver, Washington, Chris Oana of Vancouver, Washington, daughters Raenette (Danny) Sadomiano of Hanama‘ulu, Rhonda Jerves of Hanama‘ulu, Rona (Reuben Yadao) Oana of ‘Ele‘ele, Romy Oana of ‘Ele‘ele, stepdaughters Nani (Matthew) Burger of Oregon, Angelina Kays of Kalaheo, grandchildren Reef Oana, Chantel Lopez, Aaron (Toya) Oana, Mahealani Oana, Channel (Kalani Matsusaka) Jerves, Jewel Jerves, Ashlyn Jerves, Garon (Danielle Kulia) Nobriga, Ryden Nobriga, Ariel Overton, Hailey Oana, Mason Oana, Keoni Sadomiano, Gavin Sadomiano, Raschel Yadao, Shalea (Nicholas) Kam, Taralei (Dillion Kane) Yadao, great-grandchildren Kichelle Oana, Taylin Oana, Tydin Oana, Zion Oana, Chay Ramirez, Tawehi Oana Makanani, Ceriann Jerves, Rize Papagayo, Janai Thompson, Tori Santiago, Wesley Kamu Santiago, Myah Matsusaka, Aiyana Matsusaka, Sariah Matsusaka, Kalani boy Matsusaka, Zaylin Matsusaka, Anela Yadao, Aiden Catbagan-Texeira, Kieran Shigeo Kam, Salem Kam, Ezekiel Kane, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at Lihu‘e Lutheran Church on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024. Visitation is from 8 to 9 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 9 a.m. The family requests aloha attire and welcomes flowers.

Claridad ‘Inos’ Madrid Tangonan
Claridad “Inos” Madrid Tangonan, 94, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 29, 2023. She was born in Lihu‘e on June 25, 1929, and worked as a papaya packer at Best Fruit Cannery.
She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 75 years, Florencio Tangonan, son Macario Tangonan, parents Ignacio and Juliana Madrid, siblings Venancio Madri, Esabella Ramelb, Rosalina Fernandez and Napoleon Madrid.
Claridad “Inos” is survived by her children Rizal Tangonan, Consolacion Antonio, Noralyn (Nestor) Arizabal, grandchildren Agnes (Jose) Bermudez, Alvin Antonio, Lhaylalyn Tangonan, Rotsen Arizabal, Cheryl Arizabal, great-grandchildren Lorenalyn and Jhayden Maldonado.
A celebration of life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, with visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Dr. Larry Coy McKnight
Dr. Larry Coy McKnight, 79, of Kapa‘a, passed away at home on Jan. 1, 2024. He was born in Arizona on Feb. 19, 1944 and retired as an Internal Medicine Doctor after 30 years at Kaua‘i Medical Clinic and Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
Preceded in death by his parents Ira and Laura McKnight, brother Jesse McKnight and sister Arleva Sena.
Dr. Larry McKnight is survived by his wife Cynthia McKnight, children Jennifer (Stanley) Camiccia, Ryan (Michele) McKnight, Melissa (Christopher) Casale, David (Amy) Milnes, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Larry had a good life. He was well liked, admired and loved by those who knew him. He will be terribly missed. Forever in our thoughts and hearts. Winnie the Pooh: How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 at 4 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center. The family requests casual attire, no flowers, and no koden.

Anthony ‘Tony’ Benedict Afos
Anthony “Tony” Benedict Afos, 44, passed away on Jan. 14, 2024. He was born in Lihu‘e on April 26, 1979.
He was preceded in passing by his grandparents Columba Afos and Bernardo and Caridad Castaneda.
Tony is survived by his parents Alfonso and Ely Afos, siblings John John (Lori) Afos, Maricel (Art) Rivera, Jennifer (Aaron) Largusa, Theresa “Tita” Afos, nephews and nieces Jacy (Herschel) Afos, Brandy (Kawika) Texeira, Jerron (Justice) Largusa, Aaliah Largusa, Matthew and Mason Rivera, Dawson Afos, Makayla and Kendall Afos, Hayden and Hali‘a Ah Puck, Jedidiah Largusa and his second family Mercy Manera and her sons Myron, Christian, and Marique.
A celebration of his life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, with viewing from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Felipe Restituto Bumagat
Felipe Restituto Bumagat, born on Aug. 23, 1928, in Binsang, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He retired from the Bacarra Ilocos Norte Police Force before moving to Hawai‘i. He also retired as a ground maintenance at Kaua‘i Grove Farm Company in 1998.
A World War II veteran of the United States Armed Forces in the Far East, he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal on Oct. 12, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Avelina U. Bumagat, father Silvino Cariaga of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, mother Gregoria Bumagat Medrano of Bacarra, Ilcos Norte, Philippines, brothers Felicisimo Cariaga, Virginio Cariaga, Juan Cariaga, Hilario Cariaga of Pasuquin, Florentino Cariaga of New Jersey, Pedro Medrano, Ernesto Medrano of Bacarra, sisters Genoveva Cariaga, Anselma Cariaga of Pasuquin and Filomena Medrano-Sagucio.
He is survived by his wife Virgy Bumagat, children Rozel (Wayne) Ebinger, Henry (Delia) Bumagat, Delia (Frederico “Jun”) Astrologio, Joanie (Tino Hidalgo) Bumagat, Marina (Lance) Nojima, Teresita Aleli (Sammy) Cadiz Ruena Bumagat, brother Jovencio (Pacita) Cariaga, sisters Consolacion (Dominador) Daguio, Irene (Danilo) Cariaga, Christina Cariaga of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m., with a celebration of life at 6 p.m. The family requests casual attire.

Edward J. Cremer
Edward J. Cremer, of Puhi, Kaua‘i, passed away on Dec. 30, 2023 at the age of 73. He was born in Waimea on April 10, 1950. He was a tractor-trailer driver for Kaua‘i Commercial Co. and later worked for Aloha Isle Moving.
He was preceded in death by parents Reinhold and Margaret Cremer, wife Lyvonne Cremer, sisters Loraine Medeiros, Marianne Lizama, Jeanette Tu, brothers Robert Cremer, Reinhold Cremer and Eric Cremer.
He is survived by children Kyle (Mila Alayvilla) Cremer of Lihu‘e, Lynette (George) Cavaco of San Diego, California, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sisters Loretta Johnson, Bernadette Reynolds, Elizabeth Owens, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by services.
Daniel Keolamana Ka‘aumoana
Daniel Keolamana Ka‘aumoana, of Kekaha, passed away on Dec. 28, 2023, at the age of 15. He was born on Sept. 16, 2008, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He was a student at Waimea High School.
He was preceded in death by his grandma Merla-Ann Ka‘aumoana.
He is survived by his father David (Deanna) Manu Ka‘aumoana of Waimea, mother Tiffany “Ulu” (Wesley) Schmidt of Kekaha, brothers David Moses Ka‘aumoana of Waimea, Kupa‘a Silva of Kekaha, Kawelo Silva of Kekaha, sisters Angel Ka‘aumoana of Waimea, Ka‘ena Silva of Kekaha, Kailea Alquiza of Waimea, Kilileo Alquiza of Waimea, Kahiau Ka‘aumoana of Waimea, grandparents Keala Niheu of Kekaha, Leon (Momi) Schmidt of Kaumakani, great-grandmother Kaleimomi Schmidt, uncles Joshua Ka‘aumoana of O‘ahu, Hoku Schmidt of Kekaha, aunts Sarah (Nick) Ka‘aumoana of Kalaheo, Nicole (Kainalu) Ka‘aumoana of Waimea, Keala (Neill) Manuma of Kekaha, Kanani (Benjamin) Apilado of Kaumakani and numerous cousins.
