Editha Caletena-Galamay
Editha Caletena-Galamay, 79, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Aug. 8, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on May 24, 1944, in Nueva Ecija, Cuyapo, Philippines. She was a hotel room attendant and hair stylist.
She was preceded in death by parents Francisco and Flordeliza Umipig, brother Manuel Umipig and husband Celestino “Bitong” Samiano Caletena.
She is survived by husband Leo Flores Galamay, daughter Eliza “Lisa” Kobayashi, stepdaughter Jeannet (Joseph) Samiano Palacpac, grandchildren Jaycie Kobayashi, Sean Kobayashi, Kody Kobayashi and Sienna Caletena-Buehler.
A service is Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lihu‘e. Visitation is from 8 to 9:30 a.m., service at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery. The family requests casual attire.
Georgia E. Kakuda
Georgia E. Kakuda, 79, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunty, and loyal friend passed away on July 22, 2023, in Spokane, Washington. She was born on May 12, 1944, on Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sadao and Masayo Kakuda, her sister and brother-in-law June and Jim Nakagawa.
She is survived by her son Blaine (Chantel) Kakuda, grandsons Dylan and Caleb Kakuda and sister Rae (Ryan) Nishikawa.
A private celebration of life was held.
Jon Ohman
Jon Ohman passed away Dec. 26, 2023, in his home in ‘Ele‘ele due to complications after a stroke. He was born in Olympia, Washington, on March 7, 1952.
He was preceded in death by parents Art and Frances, brother David and niece Andra.
He is survived by sisters Karen Reeber, Lori (Bob) Heckman, brother Robert (Danna), seven nieces and nephews and seven grand nieces and nephews.
Jon will be truly missed by his family and extended family and friends on Kaua‘i and the mainland.
A gathering will be held at Salt Pond Beach Park on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. Please bring memories and chairs.
Yvonne Woala Pascua
Yvonne Woala Pascua, 76, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Nov. 25, 2023. She was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, on Aug. 3, 1947. She worked as an HR representative at the Kaua‘i Surf and Westin Hotel and was an active member of the Hale O Na Ali‘i O Hawaii Halau O Kapi‘olani, Inc.
She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 51 years, Raymondo Pascua and parents Martha and Lawrence Kapuniai Sr.
Yvonne is survived by her children Donna Dacay, LeeAnn (Michael) Sukehira, Raymond (Raleen) Pascua, Kathleen Woodward, Suzanne (Randall) Yokoyama, Guy (Tina) Pascua, Stephanie (Glen) Probasco, Stephen (Val) Pascua, Michelle Pascua, siblings Shirley Ann Kauahi, Lawrence (Leina‘ala) Kapuniai Jr., numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a, with visitation from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Claridad ‘Inos’ Madrid Tangonan
Claridad “Inos” Madrid Tangonan, 94, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 29, 2023. She was born in Lihu‘e on June 25, 1929, and worked as a papaya packer at Best Fruit Cannery.
She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 75 years, Florencio Tangonan, son Macario Tangonan, parents Ignacio and Juliana Madrid, siblings Venancio Madri, Esabella Ramelb, Rosalina Fernandez and Napoleon Madrid.
Inos is survived by her children Rizal Tangonan, Consolacion Antonio, Noralyn (Nestor) Arizabal, grandchildren Agnes (Jose) Bermudez, Alvin Antonio, Lhaylalyn Tangonan, Rotsen Arizabal, Cheryl Arizabal and great- grandchildren Lorenalyn and Jhayden Maldonado.
A celebration of life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, with visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
