Roy Tomeji Hashimoto
Roy Tomeji Hashimoto, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away on Dec. 14, 2023, surrounded by many loving family members. He was born on April 12, 1954, class of 1972 of Waimea High School. He was the sole proprietor of Tome’s Plumbing Service for 53 years. A professional, meticulous, perfectionist, trustworthy and genuine master plumber.
He was preceded in death by parents Tomeichi and Satoko Hashimoto and brother Peter.
He is survived by wife Bernice, daughter Naomi, son Tom, sister Frances (Ralph) Fujinaka, brothers Allen (Ok Kee), Walter (Barbara) Hashimoto, three nephews and four grandnephews.
Services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by in Loving Memory of Roy T. Hashimoto. The family suggests casual attire and requests no koden (monetary gifts) or flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
John ‘Jack’ Philip Dacey
John “Jack” Philip Dacey, of Kapa‘a, Hawai‘i, passed away on Oct. 14, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born on Aug. 16, 1950, in Hudson, Massachusetts, to John and Madelyn (Mulkern) Dacey.
Jack is survived by his long-time domestic partner, Simone Wilson who was his life and travel companion through many adventures. He is also survived by his son John Philip Dacey, Jr. of Antioch, California, his sisters Anne McDermott of Irvine, California, and Jane McCoulf of Parker, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Leslie and Madelyn Dacey (Anaheim, California) and his brothers James Dacey and Peter Dacey.
Jack worked for many years in management at UPS and later was a Physical Education teacher at Wilcox Elementary. He built his dream home in Wailua, Hawai‘i, in 2000. Jack was involved in many groups over the years including Ballroom Dancing and Master Gardening. He was full of joy and spontaneity, always delighting in life. Jack will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His ashes will be scattered at sea.
Teresa ‘Mama Teresa’ Barbachano
Teresa “Mama Teresa” Barbachano, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 20, 2023, at the age of 96. She was born in San Agustin, Jalisco, Mexico, on Oct. 14, 1927, and worked on Kaua‘i as an Educational Assistant for Special Needs at Wilcox Elementary School.
She was preceded in passing by her husband Lubin Barbachano, parents Secundino and Maria Gonzalez, siblings Amparo Delvalle and Eriberto Hernandez.
Mama Teresa is survived by her daughters Marta (Harry) Sherwood, Eva Barbachano, Mary Barbachano, Ana Munoz, siblings Evelia Gonzalez, Ester Chavez, Alfredo Hernandez, Rosita Garcia, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 11, 2024, at Lihu‘e Missionary Church starting at 6 p.m.
