Family medicine training to expand on Kaua‘i

LIHU‘E — The University of Hawai‘i, John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) announced on Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration, will invest $750,000 to plan and develop a rural family medicine residency program on Kaua‘i.

Koloa brush fire extinguished

KOLOA — County of Kaua‘i officials said a brush fire in Koloa was extinguished on Tuesday afternoon, roughly one week after two other fires broke out on the east side of the island.

Kaua‘i’s rivers, streams polluted despite dry season

Every month, Surfrider Kaua‘i’s Blue Water Task Force analyzes samples of streams, rivers and surf spots across the island to check for the enterococcus bacterium, a federally recognized indicator of fecal presence in water.
