PO‘IPU — A Po‘ipu man suffered critical injuries when he crashed a moped on a stretch of Kiahuna Plantation Drive on Thursday morning.

CRITTER: Omo the underwater hitchhiker
Remoras, also called suckerfish are the hitchhikers of the sea They have a suction cup on top of their head which is a modified dorsal fin used to attach to larger animals. Ridges on the sucking cup are parallel spines which create a vacuum to hold onto larger animals like whales, sharks, rays and sea turtles. These bizarre looking fish can grow to about 24 inches long and they will even attach to the bottom of boats to get a free ride.

LIHU’E — A Kaua‘i man was deemed a “danger to the community” by Chief Judge Randal Valenciano during his arraignment and bail hearing in Fifth Circuit Court on Thursday, Oct. 26, for two cases charging him with first-degree terroristic threatening — one with a machete and the other with a compound bow and arrow.
