LIHU‘E — A number of roadwork-related projects are scheduled during the first week of the new year with the most extensive project taking place along Kuamo‘o Road in Wailua, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in a weekly update.
The following is a list of the work on tap for the workweek ending Jan. 5. All projects are weather permitting.
Kapa‘a
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for cold planing and paving in either direction, between Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Kealia
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between mile post 10 and 11, in the vicinity of St. Catherine’s and Kumukumu Stream, on Wednesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihue
A lane shift and shoulder work on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass cutting in either direction in the vicinity of Rice Street, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A closure of the climbing lane on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for repair of the truck climbing lane in the northbound direction between mile post 0.78 and 2.5, in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for cold planing and paving in either direction between mile post 0.78 and 2.5, in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, on the nights of Tuesday, Jan. 2, through Thursday, Jan. 4, with the Thursday night closure ending the morning of Friday, Jan. 5. Closure hours will be from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m..
Princeville
A roving right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between mile post 0 and 10, between Hanalei Plantation Road and the vicinity of Ke‘e Beach, on Wednesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wailua
A single lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) in the vicinity of the Opaeka‘a Falls Lookout is in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until further notice for slope stabilization work.
