Tonight, Friday, is the final Holiday Lights Show at Kukui Grove Center before the crews pack everything away until the 2024 holiday season, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church children’s choir director Joe Moore (no, he’s not the television guy) is hosting a piano concert in ‘Ele‘ele on Dec. 30 and 31 to benefit the children’s choir. The concert starts at 7 p.m. on both nights.
This is one of the few days remaining to go check out and enjoy the Festival of Lights at the historic County Building and the Royal Holiday at the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort gardens. The Kaua‘i Hospice Lanterns of Love is also illuminated, and makes a great stop on the way to Safeway (grab a beverage from the Starbucks and enjoy the glow).
Welcome home, Beth Cuizon (remember the Waimea High School graduate who became a music teacher and couldn’t find a job here?), who is an associate dean (the term is Ahorangi) at Nayland College in New Zealand. This is a golden opportunity to learn some of the New Zealand terms like “kia ora” and “aroha (the New Zealand way of saying ‘Aloha’).”
