LIHU‘E — The rainy season is in full swing and the number of road-related projects is dwindling as the wet and windy weather intensifies on the island of Kaua‘i. As a result, there are a handful of projects on tap along local roads next week, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in a weekly update.
The followling is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Dec. 22. All work is weather permitting.
Kalihiwai
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for tree trimming in either direction, in the vicinity of Kalihiwai Road and Ka Haku Road, on Monday, Dec. 18, through Friday, Dec. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kealia
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between mile post 10 and 11.5, in the vicinity of Kealia Beach Park, on Monday, Dec. 18, through Friday, Dec. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Koloa
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for shoulder lane clearing in either between mile post 6.6 and 11.7, in the vicinity of Maluhia Road and Papalina Road, on Monday, Dec. 18, through Friday, Dec. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihu‘e
A single lane shift on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for sidewalk installation in the southbound direction between mile post 0.78 and 2.5, in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, beginning Monday, Dec. 18, through Friday, Dec. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Princeville
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between mile post 0 and 10, in the vicinity of Ke‘e Beach, on Monday, Dec. 18, through Friday, Dec. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Puhi
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass trimming around guardrails in either direction in the vicinity of Kaua‘i Community College and Koloa Road, on Monday, Dec. 18, through Friday, Dec. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
W we waited 45 minutes trying to go to Lihue from Koloa on Tuesday,,,, but was sad to see 4 state workers doing the road side work,,,, one guy had a hand cycle picking at some weeds on a sign, two using weed whackers and one guy on a machine ….but need a better group of guys doing the work ,,,,, also need weed prevention use of safe chemicals
Koloa town in desperate need of road repairs ASAP!!!
