HANAPEPE — In a game report that arrived following the Saturday press deadlines, the Waimea High School girls soccer team beat the Island School Voyagers, 4-0 at a Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation soccer match on Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium.
HANAPEPE — In a game report that arrived following the Saturday press deadlines, the Waimea High School girls soccer team beat the Island School Voyagers, 4-0 at a Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation soccer match on Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium.
Kendra Knapp, the consistent Menehune scorer, broke the ice in the 27th minute that gave Waimea a 1-0 edge at the break.
Coming back onto the field, Waimea got a hat trick, or three goals scored, from Kendra Suga in the second half for the 4-0 victory.
Suga’s first goal in the second half came at the 48th minute. She followed that with a penalty kick for score in the 58th minute and closed the day with a goal in the final four minutes of play.
With the win, the Menehune girls travel to the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex on Wednesday to face Kapa‘a High School starting at 4 p.m.
Island School girls will face the Kaua‘i High School girls on Wednesday at a 4 p.m. start at Vidinha Stadium.
On Saturday, the date of the Waimea Lighted Parade, the Menehune hosts Kaua‘i High School at Hanapepe Stadium. The boys contest starts at 10 a.m., followed by the girls starting at noon.
Island School will be hosting Kapa‘a at its Puhi campus field when the varsity boys start at 2 p.m., followed by the varsity girls game starting at 4 p.m.
