Baptiste Sports Complex and Vidinha Stadium.

Baptiste Sports Complex and Vidinha Stadium.
Sienna Yamashita, who has been a consistent scorer for the Lady Warriors in its three outings, continued to mark the scorer’s list in Kapa‘a’s 2-0 shut out over the Voyagers. Yamashita lost little time in lighting up the scoreboard, striking within the first minute of play to give Kapa‘a a 1-0 bulge at the break.
Julia Durocher iced the win on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.
Following nearly 80 minutes of play at Vidinha Stadium, Kaua‘i High School coach Chance Bukoski asked for an official clarification of the own goal that affected the Red Raiders final minutes of play on the field.
Kaua‘i’s Laysa Turner struck in the 77th minute to give the Red Raiders its 5-4 edge over Waimea in the contest, where Kaua‘i and Waimea went into a point-exchange duel.
Waimea’s Milana Schaefer hit on a corner kick in the 31st minute only to have Kaua‘i answer with a long ball, as Keira Caoagas bombed the back of the net from about 40 yards out.
Waimea responded with another corner kick goal off the foot of Cayden Aranio to settle the scoreboard 2-2 at the break.
Coral Turner got the assist for Kaua‘i High School, as Kyla Pereira headed the corner kick into the net for the score in the 67th minute.
Waimea answered when Canyon Niccore found the net in the 73rd minute to set up a flurry of scoring in the final 10 minutes of play, as coaches toyed with the own goal clarification.
Kaua‘i’s Kylah Racca notched another score in the 74th minute only to have Waimea’s Kendra Knapp answer with a goal in the 76th minute before Laysa Turner’s score settled the scoring seesaw.
Both the varsity boys and varsity girls will be in action on Saturday when Waimea High School visits Island School at its Puhi field and Kapa‘a goes to the Vidinha Stadium to face Kaua‘i. The varsity boys at both locations will startat 10 a.m. with the girls matches to follow at noon.
