Carrie Kuualoha Carvalho
Carrie Kuualoha Carvalho, 87, of Kapa‘a, passed away at home on Nov. 22, 2023. She was born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, on Sept. 15, 1936, and was an artist at heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Carvalho and 11 siblings.
Carrie is survived by her daughter Theresa (Wayne) Asuncion, granddaughters Cindy (Ashley) Romero, Tasha Asuncion, Carries Asuncion, eight great-grandchildren, sister Colletto Tovi, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be announced at a later date.

Jancy Lee Kano
Jancy Lee Kano, 70, of Wailua, passed away on Oct. 31, 2023. She was born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, on May 11, 1953, and worked on Kaua‘i as a front desk manager for Kaua‘i Beach Resort.
She was preceded in passing by her parents Lucio and Lucia Bardago, mother Lauretta Ambrosio, brother Michael Martin and sister Michelle Martin.
Jancy is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Scott Kano, daughters Nicole Petri, Chelsea Kano, grandchildren Chyson Telles-Petri, Bailey Doctolero, siblings Russell (Noreen) Bardago, Maylene (Bob) Collins, Keoni (Ron Choy-Foo) Martin, Teri Concepcion and stepdad Ralph “Tony” Ambrosio.
A celebration of life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023. Viewing will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., a Mass will be held at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Leonor Cezar Navarro
Leonor Cezar Navarro, of Kekaha, passed away on Oct. 24, 2023, in Waimea, at the age of 76 years old. She was born on Jan. 14, 1947, in the Philippines. She was a field technician “Bird Chaser” for Syngenta.
She was preceded in death by parents Catalina Abon Cezar and Pedro Cezar, sisters Esperanza Millet, Lydia Herreria and Florencia Esplana.
She is survived by sons Roly Navarro of Kekaha, Leonard (Vanessa) Navarro of North Carolina, grandchildren Ethan Emsley, Emery Skye Navarro, brothers Hilario (Gloria) Cezar of Lawa‘i, Ernesto (Delia) Cezar of Waimea, sisters Emeliana Camat of Earlimart, California, Francisca Loniza of Kekaha, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the Westside Christian Center. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., a celebration of life at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Kekaha Cemetery. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Michael Wayne Kiyabu
Michael Wayne Kiyabu, 76, passed away on Nov. 29, 2023, in Kapa‘a. He was born on May 9, 1947, in Hawai‘i. He was in the U.S. Navy and a retired Kaua‘i Police Officer.
He was preceded in death by mother Hatsuko Kiyabu, aunts Rita S. Kiyabu and Theresa Braun.
He is survived by wife Lori R. Kiyabu, son Michael K.G. Kiyabu (Michael Haritos), daughters Lori G.K. (Glen) Balisacan, Kristy Sasachika (Chance Kinney), stepdaughter Liana (Randall) Koerte, sister Teri Kaluahine, brothers Larry Fernandez, Eddie Fernandez, grandchildren Norven Balisacan, Kingston Kinney, Roman Kinney, Royal Kinney, Kannon Kinney, beloved pets Orion, Kitty, Tang, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at later date.

Gerald D. Faulkner
Gerald D. Faulkner, 91, passed away on Nov. 12, 2023, in Lihu‘e. He was born on Aug. 14, 1932, in Alabama. He was an ophthalmologist and a Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by mother Edna Eastis, father Dewitt Drennen, son Kelly Faulkner and stepson Donnie Libre.
He is survived by wife Fely (Igne) Libre Faulkner, sons Dr. Alan Faulkner, Steven Faulkner, stepsons Lydell (Yvonne) Libre, Floyd (Peggy) Libre Sr., stepdaughter Rhoda (Michael Hayton) Libre, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren and 21 step great-grandchildren.
A service is Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort, Maka‘i Ballroom, in Kapa‘a. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by service at 10:30 a.m. Internment to be at a later date at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.

Natividad ‘Naty’ Gray Belarde
Natividad “Naty” Gray Belarde, 62, of Lihu‘e, passed away Tuesday morning on Nov. 14, 2023.
Naty was born in the city of Candon, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on Dec. 31, 1960. She moved to Kaua‘i in 1978 to pursue new opportunities with her family. For 22 years, she worked as a customer service representative at Walmart. Her family, friends and colleagues will always remember her as the most kindhearted and friendliest person.
She was preceded in passing by her father Ernesto Gray Sr., brother Ricardo Gray and nephew Michael Lyndon Gray Julian.
Naty is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Joselito “Lito” Belarde, son Jay-Allan “Jay” Gray Belarde, daughter Jaelyn Gray Belarde, mother Loreta Gray, sisters Linda (Domie) Julian, Maxie (Lando) Manuel, Tessie (Sean) Mancia, Amy Gray, May-an (Shannon) Gray, brothers Nick (Karrissa) Gray, Dante (Ulu) Gray, Efren (Mel) Gray, Ernesto (Cheryl) Gray Jr., alongside numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e with visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.

Alfonso M. Martin Sr.
Alfonso M. Martin Sr. left his earthly home on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born on May 21, 1934, in Kalaheo, Kaua‘i. He was a retired AC Technician for Dynalectron Corp. at PMRF.
Those who welcomed Alfonso home were his wife of 52 years Caroline Marie Rivera, parents Trinidad and Antone Martin Sr. his sisters Libby Martin Sanchez, Alice Martin Silva, Dolores Martin De Costa and his brother Antone Martin Jr.
Continuing in his legacy is his daughter and caregiver, Theri-Lynn Martin- (Travis) Haumea of Kalaheo. Their children, Destiny-Lynn Martin- (Justin Riley) Louis of Hanapepe, Dylan Martin (Shaeli Amorin), and Brooklynn Martin-Haumea of Kalaheo.
Also survived by his children Alfonso “Braddah” (Carolyn) Martin Jr. of Kalaheo, Leilani (Joseph) Nullar of Big Island, Puanani (Thomas) Schierenbeck of California, Marilyn (Roy) Kaululaau of O‘ahu, sister Maria Janet (Jack) Randall of O‘ahu, brother-in-law William “Junior” (Josie) Rivera of ‘Ele‘ele, sister-in-law Maryann (Thomas Sr.) Rodrigues of ‘Ele‘ele, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at Holy Cross Cemetery Grounds (located behind the church). Come and visit with the family from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with inurnment services to follow. Flowers are welcomed.
