LIHU‘E — The Macy’s store at Kukui Grove Center had the privilege of hosting Big Brother Big Sisters and their mentor Bigs to breakfast and a shopping spree, said Melissa McFerrin Warrack, the special events coordinator at Kukui Grove Center.
“They were so cute with they shiny red bags,” McFerrin Warrack said. “Macy’s at Kukui Grove was just one of two stores selected to host the Littles and their Bigs. The other store selected was at the Ala Moana Shopping Center.”
On Saturday, the Macy’s store at Kukui Grove hosted 20 Littles, the term used by the Big Brothers Big Sisters program to designate its clients, and the Littles’ Big, the term assigned to the mentors, to breakfast prepared by the store manager’s husband.
“The Macy’s people were ready,” McFerrin-Warrack said. “Debbie Chukas, the Macy’s store manager, and her staff had the shiny red shopping bags prepared so the people could shop following breakfast.”
All of this activity took place ahead of the Kukui Grove opening to its ongoing Shop and Dine campaign that ends on Dec. 10.
During the campaign, shoppers at the Kukui Grove can save their receipts and once a certain amount is reached, redeem the receipts for a dining gift card to any of the Kukui Grove restaurants or treat shops.
The purchase period is from Dec. 1 through 10. The final day to redeem receipts is by 4 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the Kukui Grove management office located near The UPS Store and Kim Chee No. 9.
For purchases totaling $100, shoppers receive a $10 dining card. For purchases totaling $200, shoppers receive a $20 dining card.
