Kudos and congratulations to the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i and all the point people involved in getting the annual (there was one year when the parade was canceled due to high winds) Lights on Rice holiday parade going on Friday ... wouldn’t you say the parade was a nice announcement to the dissipation of the Kona low that dumped rain all over the island through the week?

Kudos, Lyah Kama Drake and her ‘ohana for pulling together the Kaua‘i Museum Christmas Craft Fair and food truck (no, Kaiola Canoe Club is traditional and will stick with the food booth) row, where Ferdinand Dosono of Kaua‘i Kim Chee was munching on some Elena Camat pretzels.
Elena was doing double-triple duty following the Kaua‘i Museum event because she had her booth next to Mayette Loseto (what? no kadomatsu until after Dec. 11?), and her relief was set up at the Little Pea event at the Kaua‘i Philippines Cultural Center benefiting Kaua‘i Hospice. Morgan Moises and her sister Muriah have expanded their offering to beyond Pele Jelle for the Holly Jolly event coming up Dec. 9 at Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach luau hale.
The Mokihana Club (you know, the people who provided all those Kaua‘i Community College nursing scholarships?) was at the Grove Farm Market (yes, Kalena of Waipua, we know, Gary Pacheco was busy setting up for the Kilauea Christmas Concert) because the National Tropical Botanical Gardens is not hosting a special Christmas craft fair, this year.
And, more kudos to Tess Shimabukuro, Terri Kaniho and Gather FCU ‘ohana for working with KHON2 (how thrilling to have Living 808’s Mikey Monis at Walmart) and the Laulima project to raise toys for Kaua‘i’s keiki in the Keiki O Ka ‘Aina, YWCA of Kaua‘i and Child and Family Service Nana’s House.
