Frances Eliza Keliinani Petersen Kamoku
Frances Eliza Keliinani Petersen Kamoku was born on Feb. 18, 1941, to William Francis Petersen and Helen Edith Robertson in Honolulu. On Sunday Aug. 27, 2023, Frances Kamoku, loving wife and mother of four children passed away peacefully at the age of 82. She married her first husband Maurice Contrades meanwhile stationed in Germany who then had four children, Keith and Terri Contrades, Rowena (Contrades) and Michael Pangan, Rhonda Garcia and Craig “Kanani” Contrades. Long after, she met her longtime friend and love, Harry Kanohokuahiwi Kamoku, in June of 1989 who preceded her in death in 2021.
Frances loved people and because she loved people, Christmas was her favorite time of the year coordinating holiday carols, meals, and family gatherings. Steak, stews and soups were her favorites to share with ohana and extended families, especially for her great-grandchildren.
For many years Frances worked at Smith’s motorboats, it suited her happy heart surrounded by so many she loved and adorned. Her life was filled with grandchildren, laughter and sarcasm, beyond her gorgeous appearance, she was sharp and witty.
Frances is survived by her children, grandchildren Trichael Pangan, Tiana Pangan, Tresten Pangan (Chanee), Taleea Contrades Carvalho (Steven Kai), Trey Contrades (deceased), Kealalani Contrades, Taylor Garcia, Kelli Garcia, Conner Garcia, John Walters, Russlyn Morita, Ingrid Nakamura Amaki (Garrick), Leland Lam Yuen, Mahina Pa, great-grandchildren Kaohimaunu Cabacungan, Gema Dunhour-Pangan, La’iku Carvalho, Kailea Carvalho, Lukela Kualii, Treyten Pangan, Trenten Pangan, Harlee Pangan, Waianuheaokalani Galiza, Likeke Carvalho, Kaipuala Galiza, Kaikoa Walters, Cody Morita Martinez, Jaden Morita Martinez, Jaicie Morita Martinez, Darrick Amaki, best friend Joyann Sheldon Dilwith, hanai children John and Mahea Kaui, Rose and Jhonny Vaivao, Tano and Kaimana Castenda, Leimamo and Edward Keopuhiwa, Safonia Mahoe, Kanani Dettloff, Wailana Judd, Patsy and Melvin Rapozo, Wailua River (Smith’s motorboats) ‘Ohana and her many nieces and nephews all who she loved and touched deeply.

Kith ‘Nalu’ Silva-Lacro
Nalu passed away on Sept. 7, 2023, at the age of 28 years old, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. He was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i, on Dec. 1, 1994.
Nalu was an amazing person who loved hunting, fishing, and worked with Gill Construction Company. He had a contagious smile and was always there to help others. He’ll be deeply missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by father Edward Lacro, maternal grandparents Paul P. Sr. and Helen Silva, uncles Noland Silva, Orlie Kimble, Joseph Grace, paternal grandparents Vicente and Teodora Lacro.
He is survived by mother Paula Bacio, sisters Phrystal Bacio, Larlyn (David) Fitzpatrick, Laynette (Tim) Parbo, Leslie Lacro, Leilan Kolaski, brothers Lyman (Erika) Lacro, Chad (Amberlynn) Rita, Chaz Rita, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Visitation is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. followed by services at 10 a.m.

Magdalena Salcedo Polintang
Magdalena Salcedo Polintang passed away on Oct. 13, 2023, in Lihu‘e at the age of 91. She was born on April 28, 1932, in the Philippines. She was a retired chamber maid at Kaua‘i Resort.
She was preceded in death by parents Lucio Salcedo and Clara Saranillas, husband Bonifacio Polintang, brothers Mariano Salcedo, Sebastian Salcedo, Gabriel Laforga, Dino Laforga, sisters Marciana Salcedo, Marciana Laforga and Calista Laforga.
She is survived by daughters Rose (Bernie) Semana, Glory (Efren) Taylan, Betty Polintang, Dana (Danial) Garven, grandchildren Bryson Semana, Brennan Semana, Bradley Semana, Bridgette Semana, Kira-Ashley Taylan, Travis Taylan, Jennifer Whitfield, Keanu Whitfield, Brittney Whitfield, Marley Garven, Zen Garven, great-grandchildren Chase Semana and Arya Semana.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.
