Stephen Fujii (he’ll be with the bonsai people participating in the Little Pea vendor event at the Kaua‘i Philippines Cultural Center on Saturday) was making good use of the Gather FCU shopping basket on Monday at Pau Hana Market, where shoppers can donate food in exchange for discount coupons (good only at vendors in the Pau Hana Market) to benefit the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i.

Jon Letman (mahalo for the email) said the National Tropical Botanical Garden is hosting its annual plant sale (this one is really big!) on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. at the South Shore Visitor Center … don’t be late for best selections. Jon said in lieu of the big tent craft fair, vendors at the weekly Aloha Market (starts at 10 a.m. on Thursdays) have the option of offering holiday pricing through the month of December.
Today is the big triple bill of events in Lihu‘e — did you check out the traffic advisories for the Lights on Rice holiday parade (be good so the upstairs spirits hold off the rains!) in the Wednesday TGI? — starting with the Kaua‘i Museum Christmas Craft Fair (what’s the lunch options?) at 9 a.m., and ending with the parade starting at 6;30 p.m. (don’t be late, the police move everyone out on time so Rice Street can reopen).
There’s no time of post-parade kicking back on Saturday morning, as the craft fair component is at the Grove Farm Market. Then, there’s the Little Pea event benefiting Kaua‘i Hospice that runs on Saturday and Sunday, too!
And, if there’s time, Coach Ipo Yoshioka is hosting the Kaua‘i High School invitational basketball tournament being played at the old and new Kaua‘i High School gymnasiums, and at the Wilcox Gymnasium on the Island School campus that started on Thursday afternoon.
Happy holidays! December is here!
