Sixto Gandhi Agoto Sr.
Sixto Gandhi Agoto Sr.
Sixto Gandhi Agoto Sr., 82, passed away in Lihu‘e on Nov. 10, 2023. He was born in Sarat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Aug. 6, 1941, and moved to Kaua‘i where he worked in landscaping.
He was preceded in passing by his son Brigido Agoto, daughter Belinda Agoto, parents Policarpio and Placida Agoto, and brother Florencio Agoto.
Sixto is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Prudenciana Calaro, children Prudencio (Noralyn) Agoto, Sixto (Aida) Agoto Jr., Marjorie Agoto, siblings Asuncion Calaro, Rogelio Agoto, Jose Agoto, Manuel Agoto, Mina Raspado, Carlene Domingo, Marcelino Agoto, grandchildren Neslie Joy Agoto, Nicaela Agoto, and great-grandchild Culen Agoto.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. Catherine Church with visitation from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.

Magdalena Salcedo Polintang
Magdalena Salcedo Polintang passed away on Oct. 13, 2023, in Lihu‘e at the age of 91. She was born on April 28, 1932, in the Philippines. She was a retired chamber maid at Kaua‘i Resort.
She was preceded in death by parents Lucio Salcedo, Clara Saranillas, husband Bonifacio Polintang, brothers Mariano Salcedo, Sebastian Salcedo, Gabriel Laforga, Dino Laforga, sisters Marciana Salcedo, Marciana Laforga, and Calista Laforga.
She is survived by daughters Rose (Bernie) Semana, Glory (Efren) Taylan, Betty Polintang, Dana (Danial) Garven, grandchildren Bryson Semana, Brennan Semana, Bradley Semana, Bridgette Semana, Kira-Ashley Taylan, Travis Taylan, Jennifer Whitfield, Keanu Whitfield, Brittney Whitfield, Marley Garven, Zen Garven, great-grandchildren Chase Semana and Arya Semana.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.

Natividad ‘Naty’ Gray Belarde
Natividad “Naty” Gray Belarde, 62, of Lihu‘e, passed away Tuesday morning on Nov. 14, 2023.
Naty was born in the city of Candon, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on Dec. 31, 1960. She moved to Kaua‘i in 1978 to pursue new opportunities with her family. For 22 years, she worked as a customer service representative at Walmart. Her family, friends and colleagues will always remember her as the most kindhearted and friendliest person.
She was preceded in passing by her father Ernesto Gray Sr, brother Ricardo Gray and nephew Michael Lyndon Gray Julian.
Naty is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Joselito “Lito” Belarde, son Jay-Allan “Jay” Gray Belarde, daughter Jaelyn Gray Belarde, mother Loreta Gray, sisters Linda (Domie) Julian, Maxie (Lando) Manuel, Tessie (Sean) Mancia, Amy Gray, May-an (Shannon) Gray, brothers Nick (Karrissa) Gray, Dante (Ulu) Gray, Efren (Mel) Gray, Ernesto (Cheryl) Gray Jr., alongside numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e with visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.

Donald Satoshi Shimamoto
Donald Satoshi Shimamoto, 78, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Oct. 8, 2023, at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu. He was born on Aug. 7, 1945, in Lihu‘e. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam 1966-1968. He was the Building Maintenance Supervisor when he retired in Dec. 2000 from the Department of Accounting and General Services State of Hawai‘i after 26 years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristy Shimamoto, parents Seiichi and Misao Shimamoto, parents-in-law Joseph Lei, Jr. and Sheila Viela, sister-in-law JoAnn Shimamoto, brother-in-law Roy Takahashi and niece Lena Takahashi.
Donald is survived by his wife Sharlene Shimamoto, daughter Renae (Thomas) Benjamin, granddaughters Kierstyn Benjamin, Mackenzie Benjamin, brothers Alan (Sharon) Shimamoto, Patrick Shimamoto, sister Karen Takahashi, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawa‘i from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where a celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. The family suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.

Leonor Cezar Navarro
Leonor Cezar Navarro, of Kekaha, passed away on Oct. 24, 2023, in Waimea, at the age of 76 years old. She was born on Jan. 14, 1947, in the Philippines. She was a field technician “Bird Chaser” for Syngenta.
She was preceded in death by parents Catalina Abon Cezar and Pedro Cezar, sisters Esperanza Millet, Lydia Herreria and Florencia Esplana.
She is survived by sons Roly Navarro of Kekaha, Leonard (Vanessa) Navarro of North Carolina, grandchildren Ethan Emsley, Emery Skye Navarro, brothers Hilario (Gloria) Cezar of Lawa‘i, Ernesto (Delia) Cezar of Waimea, sisters Emeliana Camat of Earlimart, California, Francisca Loniza of Kekaha, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the Westside Christian Center. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., a celebration of life at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Kekaha Cemetery. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Ernest S. Pabustan
Ernest S. Pabustan, 81, passed away at his home in Kapa‘a on Nov. 12, 2023. He was born in Sta. Anna, Arayat, Pampanga, Philippines, on Jan. 14, 1942. He worked at Clark Airbase as a waiter, then moved to Kaua‘i where he worked at Kaua‘i Resort, Coco Palms, and then Tropical Smith’s.
He was preceded in passing by son Stephen Pabustan, parents Fernando and Trinidad Pabustan and seven siblings.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Annie Pabustan, children Ferdinand (Gigetteann) Pabustan, Maria Genedina Pabustan, Maria Cecilia (Brad) Gipolan, Theresa (David) Mow, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two siblings.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Catherine Church on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023. Visitation starting from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at St. Catherine Church Kealia Cemetery.

Richard Rudy Callejo
Richard Rudy Callejo, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Sept. 30, 2023, at Wilcox Medical Center at the age of 73. He was born on March 3, 1950, on Kaua‘i. He was a dispatcher and security officer.
He was preceded in death by parents Vivenicio and Esberta Callejo and sister Presentation “Lucy” Chaney.
He is survived by wife Christine Callejo, son Reed (Jessie) Pagtolingan of Anahola, daughters Elicia Callejo of Colorado, Juni (Matt) Lovel of Sacramento, California, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers Bobby Callejo of Wisconsin, Jeffrey (Sally) Callejo of Lihu‘e, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A blessing will be held at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe on Saturday, Dec. 2, starting at 9 a.m. A celebration of life will follow at Lydgate Comfort Station at noon. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Justin Sebastian Bautista
Justin Sebastian Bautista, of Pearl City, passed away on Nov. 13, 2023, at Kaneohe, Hawai‘i, at the age of 29. He was born on May 28, 1994, on Kaua‘i. He was an LPN as a Psychiatric Tech.
He was preceded in death by Ludovico Bautista, Vicieta Bautista, Sergio Sebastian and Flordeliza Sebastian.
He is survived by wife Sharmaine Valmoja of O‘ahu, daughter Julia Arielle Valmoja-Bautista of O‘ahu, parents Jaime and Estrellita Bautistas of Lihu‘e, brother Jester (Cherry Joy) Bautista of O‘ahu, nephews Jaimeson Bautista, Jaxon Bautista, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A wake service will be held at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i on Friday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 9 p.m. A service is Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa. Visitation is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
