Sonia Topenio (she reminds people to check out Little Pea this Saturday and Sunday at Kaua‘i Philippines Cultural Center where the Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics and YMCA people will be using the facility as a hospitality center for about 350 swimmers they’ll be expecting for a swim meet during the Dec. 9 weekend).
Randy Francisco (he was at the Lihu‘e Airport to greet the new state Division II champions!) said the West Kaua‘i Lions Club will be caroling during Friday Art Night before making their way to Hofgaard Park on Saturday around 6 p.m. for the lighting of the holiday lights in Waimea town presented by the historic Waimea Theater and Cultural Arts Center.
On the other side of the island, the Kilauea Social Club is supposed to join the entertainment lineup at the Kilauea Christmas Concert, which starts at 4 p.m. and “runs to late” at the historic stone building park where the Kilauea Neighborhood Association used to light a Norfolk with its accompanying holiday paina with real chestnuts roasting over an open fire.
In the meantime, it’s time to get ready for the Lihu‘e triple bill of events on Friday, including the Kaua‘i Museum Christmas Craft Fair that opens at 9 a.m. (any of the food vendors having breakfast?), Elizabeth Freeman and the Festival of Lights turning on the lights at the lawn of the historic County Building (Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there) and the Lights on Rice holiday parade (it was voted Best Event by TGI readers for 2021 and 2022!).
