After grappling with teams from the KIF, St. Louis finished with a win over Waimea High School, and a pair of ties against Kapa‘a High School and Kaua‘i High School.
St. Louis struck first in its Friday match against Kapa‘a when Landon Dimays found the net in the 18th minute, only to have Kapa‘a’s Kamalei Gonsalves answer with a net in the 32nd minute to have the scored tied 1-1 at the break.
Kapa‘a took the lead in the second half when Isaiah Noguchi’s found the back of the net in the 54th minute for the 2-1 go-ahead.
St. Louis preserved a tie two minutes into stop time play when Kaleo Stubblefield scored for St. Louis to end the game on a 2-2 tie.
On Saturday morning against Kaua‘i High School at Hanapepe Stadium, the Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead at the break after Kai Potts scored in the 39th minute, the final minute before KIF regulation 40-minute halves. St. Louis answered in the 67th minute when Sean Oshiro found the back of the net to knot the contest at 1-1.
In the nightcap, St. Louis survived a 5-4 slugfest over Waimea where its squad received four yellow card infractions for unsportsmanlike conduct.
St. Louis took a 4-0 lead in the first half behind a pair of goals off Enzo Castilos’ foot that found the back of the net in the 10th and 30th minutes of play. Trent Palaka lit up the scoreboard in the first five minutes of play and Caleb Ugalde rounded out the first-half scoring in the 23rd minute.
Waimea answered the deficit in the second half behind two goals from Jaiden Sams, who scored in the 60th and 80th minutes of play. Menehune senior Masao Fontana opened play in the second half after finding the back of the net in the 45th minute and Jacob Grossman helped the Waimea effort with his score in the 77th minute.
St. Louis closed the win when Ke‘Olu Martkle Kane found the back of the net in the 57th minute.
