OK, it’s wake up early on Saturday time … Debbie Yanagihara (she coordinates the monthly craft fairs at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center, where a lot of the early arrivals to Kaua‘i go while waiting for everyone else to wake up, and the Church of the Crossroads in Princeville) is presenting the Christmas Craft Fair (“Spread the news and joy!”) with nearly 50 vendors offering gift ideas and handmade craft items at Kaua‘i Veterans Center (check out Kaua‘i Veterans Museum, too) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kudos, Zonta Club member Rebecca Carnate and Regina Carvalho (Christina Ensman of Operation Christmas Child said these Zontians “have it together” on getting their packed shoeboxes to the drop off point on time so they could be part of the approximately 3,500 shoeboxes shipped out to the Samaritan’s Purse processing center. (remember that orange 747 that lumbered into Lihu‘e Airport during the Hanalei flooding?) Rebecca was juggling her shoebox and items during the Gratitude Day (Melissa McFerrin Warrack of Kukui Grove Center said we should all be grateful for everyone for their extra effort that makes the holidays special) that Melissa said was very successful for the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i and all of their partners of the Holiday Fund that provides holiday surprises to people who might otherwise not have a happy holiday.
Kudos to Laurie Ho and Pau Hana Market ‘ohana for making it through three years of ringing the cowbell at 3 p.m., every Monday! Laurie got help from Robbie Melton of the Small Business Development Center to help celebrate the weekly collaboration with Kukui Grove Center, by distributing Small Business Saturday (no wonder these two ladies were declared “neighborhood champions”) for the Kukui Grove celebration, which will include eight (!!!) vendors coordinated by Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami participating with our own Kaua‘i Made vendors.
Happy Turkey Day, Kaua‘i!
