LIHU‘E — Waimea High School’s Kameron Apilado, who carried the ball 11 times for 73 yards on Saturday during Waimea’s 13-10 edge over Roosevelt at Hanapepe Stadium, was named to the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation Football All-Stars roster as the Offensive Player of the Year.
Apilado also topped the Menehune’s defensive efforts in the win that advanced Waimea to the Division II championship game on Saturday in O‘ahu. Apilado tallied seven stops.
Apilado also got the nod for the quarterback position.
Kapa‘a High School’s Eli Keoho, who registered six stops against Kona that handed Kapa‘a a 37-19 loss on Saturday in Kona, was listed as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year along with fellow Warrior Steeler Burley, who marked five stops against the Wildcats.
Warriors head coach Mike Tresler, leading Kapa‘a to the KIF football crown with an unblemished record, gets the nod as Coach of the Year.
Kaimana Kauhi of Kaua‘i High School was the sole Red Raider making it to the KIF all-stars as a receiver.
The KIF made its announcement of the All-Stars on Monday.
