Admission is free for the last First Tech Challenge Robotics Competition, which will unfold on Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m. at Wilcox Gymnasium on the Island School campus in Puhi. According to a tournament spokesperson, the tournament will feature teams from Kapa‘a Middle School, Waimea Canyon Middle School and the Hawai‘i Tech Academy and other schools visiting from O‘ahu.
There is no admission to take in the Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ Small Works Big Show exhibit, which opens on Friday night with an artists reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at KSA gallery (they’re next door to Bubbah’s Toy Box and Small Fry) where glass art makers Peter Thielen and Joshua Huntoon will have some of their Kaua‘i Hand-Blown Glass Art.
The Kaua‘i Handworks craft fair (the sign on the Kaua‘i Veterans Center fence calls it the “Christmas Craft Fair”) will unfold from 8:30 a.m. and run until 1:30 p.m … look for Elena Camat and her Chinese Pretzels (who’s taking care of the Grove Farm Market in Puhi?).
There’re two food distributions, one from each of the two food banks on Kaua‘i … the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank holds its food distribution on Friday starting at 2:30 p.m. at Kaua‘i Veterans Center, and the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i hosts its drive-thru distribution on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the Kaua‘i Community College P3 parking lot.
And, isn’t it Gratitude Day at Kukui Grove?
