LIHU‘E — A suspect in an alleged armed robbery and vehicle theft at Ahukini Landing earlier this week remained at large on Thursday, two days after he managed to elude local authorities by fleeing into bushes.

Sateki Nisa, 27, of Pahoa, Hawai‘i Island, is wanted in connection with the incident on Monday evening, the Kaua‘i Police Department said. Nisa, who stands 6-feet, 1-inch and weighs about 240 pounds, is considered armed and dangerous. The public is also advised not to approach Nisa under any circumstances.
“According to a preliminary report, KPD personnel received a report of a robbery that occurred at Ahukini Landing in Lihu‘e on Nov. 13 at 8:40 p.m.,” the KPD said on Wednesday. “A man fitting Sateki Nisa’s description held the operator of a Toyota Corolla at gunpoint and took off with the vehicle. No injuries were reported.”
Nisa was spotted on Tuesday behind the wheel of the stolen Toyota Corolla near mile marker 5 of Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the south entrance to Leho Drive. Nisa then drove the Toyota Corolla to the side of the road, exited the vehicle, and fled into the bushes, the KPD said.
KPD personnel pursued Nisa into a heavily wooded area, but could not locate him. Witnesses told The Garden Island multiple police cars and a helicopter were in the general vicinity on Tuesday.
