LIHU‘E — Curtains for the third annual presentation of “The Nutcracker” will rise on Dec. 2 at Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.
“The Nutcracker” is presented by the Kaua‘i Ballet Academy.
Tickets for the Dec. 2 presentation, a matinee and an evening performance, as well as the Dec. 9 performance at the historic Waimea Theatre are on sale online at www.kauaiballetacademy.com.
“Three siblings, Tate, Ty,and Shay Clark have been rehearsing since August in preparation for their lead roles as Fritz, Clara and the Nutcracker,” said Hilary Johnson, the owner and artistic designer of the Kaua‘i Ballet Academy. “Practicing six days a week is a huge sacrifice, but it’s fun when they have so many friends in the studio.”
The Kaua‘i Ballet Academy has more than 80 dancers. Seventy of them will be performing in “The Nutcracker” on both Dec. 2 and Dec. 9.
Guest dancers joining the students include Dr. Spencer Smith, and Dr. Candice Myhre of Wilcox Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Kekaha Elementary School Principal Jo Hicks.
“This is a timeless classic with entertainment the entire family will enjoy,” Johnson said. “This holiday tradition is sure to delight.”
