LIHU‘E — This is a time for Turkey Trotters to delight as two Turkey Trot events appear in time for Thanksgiving.
The St. Theresa School announced its Turkey Trot for Saturday with registration starting at 7 a.m. and the trot starting at 8 a.m. at its Kekaha campus.
A benefit for St. Theresa School, the Turkey Trot includes a 1K, and 5K run/walk with early online discounts available when registering at www.sttheresakauai.com. Medals will be awarded for first, second and third place during the food and craft vendors event following the race.
The Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i and Alakoko announced its 5K Turkey Trot and Turkey Shoot for Thanksgiving Day starting from 6:30 a.m. at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.
Sponsored by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority through its Community Enrichment Program, online registration is available at www.kauaiturkeytrot.org for the event where warm-ups start at 6:30 a.m. and the first group leaves from 7:15 a.m.
The Alakoko and Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i are also hosting the Kiele Club 9-hole Turkey Shoot that will be limited to the first 40 players who sign up for the 9-hole Par 3 Turkey Shoot.
Tee times start at 7 a.m. for the event where all holes at the Ocean Course will be transformed into Par 3s. Each golfer will play their individual ball throughout the course and total score over the nine holes will be calculated at the end.

Kaua‘i’s active lifestyle boutique, Work It Out in downtown Kapa‘a, in collaboration with area businesses and groups, will host the Old Town Kapa‘a Turkey Trot at Kapa‘a Beach Park starting at 6:45 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, according to the Po‘ipu Kai Villas website.
The free event means no registration, although participants are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items for Hale Ho‘omalu. Monetary donations to the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce are also being accepted until the race starts at 7:30 a.m.
