Jeanette Mae Ferreira Poe
Jeanette Mae Ferreira Poe, of Lihu‘e, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83. She was a retired registered nurse of Mahelona Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Ferreira and Madeline Abreu Ortiz, son Robert Alexander Iida Jr., grandson Robert Alexander Iida III, sister Dulinda (Louis) Maria of Ewa, O‘ahu, and Isaac Poe Jr.
She is survived by son Michael (Terri Yadao) Iida of Lihu‘e, daughter Theresa Lynn Iida-Mersberg of Waimea, raised grandson Robert Iida and great-grandson Lopaka Iida of Lihu‘e, sisters Irene Randall of Kekaha, Charlene Bukoski of Kapa‘a, Emily Ferreira Guajardo of Arizona, Barbara Garcia of Lihu‘e, Elizabeth Kane of Koloa, brother Edward Ferreira Jr. of Honolulu, 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life services will be held on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
The public may visit with family from 9:30 a.m. with services to follow. Scattering of her ashes will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Kaua‘i Hospice and Dr. Michael Murray for all their help and concern. The family also request flowers be omitted.
Dorene Duterte Frey
Dorene Duterte Frey, 72, of Kalaheo, passed away in Lihu‘e on Nov. 2, 2023. She was born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, on Sept. 25, 1951, and retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Bone and Joint Center at Kaua‘i Medical Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bernardo and Annie Castillo and brother Patrick Castillo.
Dorene is survived by her husband Anthony Frey, daughter Josephine (Jason) Steele, two grandchildren, sister June Tada, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dorene’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Holy Cross Church with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Reception to follow.

Dorothy L. Morehead
Dorothy L. Morehead passed away on Nov. 5, 2023, at the age of 99. She was born in Los Angeles, California, and was a homemaker most of her life. Dorothy moved to Kaua‘i in 1966, spent several years in Bend, Oregon, before moving back to Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in passing by her husband Ralph S. Morehead.
Dorothy is survived by her children Bruce (Angela) Morehead of Po‘ipu, John Morehead of Koloa, Diane (Gregory) Barbar of Redmond, Oregon, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at a later date.

Sarah Kawaiwaionapua Kaneholani, born on June 1, 1973, of Anahola, passed away peacefully at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 3, 2023, at the age of 50 after a 10-year-long battle with cancer.
Sarah was preceded in death by her father David Kaneholani Sr., paternal grandparents Herbert and Elizabeth Kaneholani, maternal grandparents Charles and Haruko Kiilau, numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her mother Charlotte Kiilau Kaneholani, companion Clement, children Samuel, Jasen and Bruce Kaneholani, Dawn-Lei (Hoku) Ricciardi, Kehau (Jose) Santiago, Olinda (Kekoa) Figueroa, Ali‘i (Xannie) Kaneholani, Taisen Kaneholani, Kaikoa and Kahea Ujano-Kaneholani, siblings Masao (Lehua) Iopa, Mollie “Pua” Gardner, Charla (John) Brock, David Kaneholani Jr., Maycia (Guy) Matsuyoshi, Kealaonaona Iopa, grandchildren Josiah, Johnny, Shanalyn, Kealohi, Kaimalie, Anela, Masina, Akela, Ha‘aheo, Kealoha, Alaka‘i, Keelan, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her hanai mother Mervelee “Midge” Asai, numerous hanai children including Jimmy (Nikki) Alisna, Alijah Barino, Shy Kaneholani, Loke (Corey) Rivera, Shana (Calvin) Kuriki, hanai grandchildren Makalapua, Jaysie-Jean, Corey, Mason-Dean, Breeana, Brittney, Shane, Bryanna, Shaisten, Bryancie, Jaevn and Noah.

Rodney Wade Oyamot, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Sept. 13, 2023, at his home in Lihu‘e at the age of 65. He was born on Oct. 4, 1957 in Waimea, Kaua‘i. In his early years he delivered furniture for Kawakami Furniture, then moved on to driving for Big Save Co., and later drove for Senter Petroleum as a fuel truck driver.
He was preceded in death by parents Severino and Elizabeth Rapozo Oyamot, sister-in-law Helena Oyamot and brother-in-law Calvin Fukushima.
He is survived by wife Josephine Rasay-Oyamot, stepson Jason Rasay-Gasmen of Lihu‘e, stepdaughter Maren Rasay of Lihu‘e, three step grandchildren, sisters Rowena (Kelley Phillips) Fukushima of Lihu‘e, Wenda (Chuck) Moon of Waimea, brothers Mansfield (Noreen) Oyamot of Hanapepe, Malcolm (Faith Melandish) Oyamot of Kapa‘a, Jonathan (Marietta) Oyamot of Hanapepe, numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at the Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation starting at 9 a.m. and celebration of life to begin at 10 a.m. The family requests no flowers at this time.

Samuel Kekoakaua Woodward Sr., 79, of Kilauea, passed away on Oct. 24, 2023. He was born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, on Nov. 10, 1943, and retired from Security Services with Princeville Resort.
He was preceded in death by his father Samuel Kekoanawelu Sr., mother Edith Pohaku Ho‘oikaika, brothers Stanley Kamaki, Dayne Saffery Ku‘uipo and sister Heather Hokulani.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Rodney (Cathy) Woodward, Samuel (Bethany) Woodward Jr., four daughters and two hanai daughters, Darnel Woodward, Sherry Woodward, Shanell (Brian) Gerardo, Sharon (Cody) Graham, Nora (Noe) Pahinui, Tobey (Lance) Gonsalves, siblings Hayden (Jackie) Woodward, Llewelyn (Nadine) Woodward, Darriel Woodward, Celeste Castillo, 17 grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Samuel’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Kaua‘i Christian Fellowship North Shore with visitation from 10 a.m. and services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kilauea Japanese Cemetery.
