KAPA‘A — The deadline for registering for home delivery of a Thanksgiving lunch presented by the Kapa‘a Interfaith Association is Nov. 13. People can register by calling either 808-3477 or 808-652-9393, states a flier posted at the All Saints Episcopal Church and Preschool.
The home deliveries are intended for people residing in the Lihu‘e through Anahola areas, who are physically not able to drive to Kapa‘a for the free Community Thanksgiving Lunch presented by the Kapa‘a Interfaith Association churches.
“Many have submitted requests through the Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity since KEO does not deliver lunches on Thanksgiving Day,” said Roberta Yanagawa of the Kapa‘a Hongwanji, one of the nine churches participating in the annual event.
Mark’s Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering will prepare the complete meal that follows an interfaith Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. at the All Saints Episcopal Church.
Participating churches include the Kapa‘a Hongwanji, the All Saints Episcopal Church, St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, the Kapa‘a Jodo Mission, Kapa‘a Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Kapa‘a United Church of Christ, the Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church, and new for the 2023 meal, the Center for Spiritual Living and the Jewish Community of Kaua‘i.
Meal service that includes dine-in at the All Saints Gym will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This includes the home deliveries where the greatest number of deliveries are planned to take place between 11 a.m. and noon.
“Southwest Airlines is once again our title sponsor and will cover the food costs,” said Sarah Rogers, who co-chairs the Lunch with Kathy Miyake. “We have two new churches getting involved in helping — the Center for Spiritual Living that moved into the social hall at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji and the Jewish Community of Kaua‘i.”
The community is invited to join the free Community Thanksgiving Lunch that includes the free interfaith service that starts at 10 a.m. at the All Saints Episcopal Church. Lunch follows at the All Saints Gym from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
